1 MacWorld - Apple News
As well as publishing a monthly magazine, these folks publish daily news articles about all sorts of things within, and related to, the Apple Mac universe.
2 Apple Discussions - User Forum
This is the official Apple forum site and has a lot of people who volunteer their time to help out others across a vast range of Apple related topics.
3 Whirlpool Apple Forum
This is an Australian based community forum that has a thread specifically for Apple OS X issues. You'll also find other threads relating to iPhones and iPads, and also the many aspects of "Broadband" use.
4 Mac Tips - Hints for non-geeks
Mac Tips is a site with an incredible number of short, easy to understand, ideas on how to make your Apple devices and their applications work more smoothly.
5 mLab - Online connection testing
An independent site that allows you to perform some reasonably sophisticated testing of your internet connection.
6 Internode ADSL
Internode consistently rate at the top of Home ADSL customer surveys for quality and satisfaction. They have been my ISP for many years and I recommend them to my clients and friends.
7 I Hate My PC - Computer Doctors
A small "computer doctor" company that specializes in making sure that you're happy with your computer setup such that you can really love it and use it as the tool it is meant to be.
8 Infin8Solution - Web design & production
A small but very high quality company based in Penrith that produces customized web sites for small to medium sized businesses.
9 Unlimited-Space - Australian web hosting
My preferred Australian supplier of reasonable cost but high availability and fully functional web hosting services.
10 Hostica - Offshore web hosting
There are numerous examples of cheap web hosting so it's difficult to know who lives up to their spiel about quality of service. Hostica is my recommendation for the situation where money is really tight and there is no requirement to host the content within Australia.
11 InternetSeer - Website monitoring
This company provides full web site availability monitoring for a fee but you can also get a free account that checks every hour that your site is up. You just need to agree to receive their marketing emails (usually 1-2 each week.) Note: For your notification email address don't use one that is part of your hosted domain, because if your server is down then notification emails through that server won't get to you!
12 Megan's Web - Web sites for non-profits
A web development company, based in Tasmania, that specializes in creating easily maintainable web sites for non-profit organizations.
13 Sophos Anti-Virus
It may still be debatable whether Mac computers running OS X need to be running anti-virus software, but if you're in a situation where you need it then this commercial grade, but free, product from Sophos may fit the requirement.
14 CompNow - Apple purchases and repairs
This is my preferred Apple hardware repair place. They are fully Apple certified so repairs that fall under warranty can be done - (including the various "extended warranty programmes" that Apple provide when there is a known systemic hardware fault).
15 Xyber - Data Recovery Experts
If your hard drive suddenly dies, maybe due to old age or fire or flood, you may be in the unfortunate position of not having all of its data available elsewhere. To prevent further damage make sure to consult the experts.
16 Netcomm EOP Products
One solution to home networking is "Ethernet over Power". Netcomm is an Australian company with products that fit this market.
17 MicroSeconds - 2nd hand Macs and repairs
This small company takes ex-lease Mac computers and refurbishes them ready for resale. As part of this operation they also have an extensive set of 2nd hand spare parts. What's more they're friendly and helpful and knowledgable about all things Mac related. Oh, and they also perform repairs!
